Safety Policy
Safety Policy
Your safety is what drives everything we do at GoWork Staffing. We’ve put careful measures in place to make sure every worksite is as safe as possible. Our Operations and Office Managers conduct regular walkthroughs, run safety meetings, and work closely with leadership to continuously strengthen our safety program. That said, your own awareness and good judgment remain the most powerful safety tools on any job site, at work, on the road, and at home. We take safety seriously, and any deliberate or repeated violation of safety rules will be treated as grounds for dismissal. At GoWork Staffing, the health and wellbeing of every team member genuinely matters to us.
Accident Reporting
If you’re injured at work — no matter how minor it seems — report it to your supervisor right away and get it treated immediately. What looks like a small injury can turn into a serious condition if it’s left unattended.
Specific Safety Rules and Guidelines
To keep yourself and your coworkers safe, please follow these rules at all times:
- Follow the safety procedures established for your specific job.
- Report any illness or injury, however slight, to your supervisor immediately. Never attempt to treat your own or someone else’s injury, or try to remove foreign particles from an eye.
- If an injury involves a possible fracture to the legs, back, or neck, results in unconsciousness, or causes a severe head injury, do not move the employee until authorized medical personnel have responded.
- Avoid loose clothing or jewelry around machinery — these can catch on moving equipment and cause serious harm.
- Never distract a coworker while they’re working. If you need their attention, wait until it’s safe to do so.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment — goggles, safety glasses, masks, gloves, hair nets, and anything else specified for your role.
- Make sure safety devices such as restraints, pull backs, and two-hand controls are properly adjusted for your use.
- Stack materials, bins, boxes, skids, and equipment so they never block aisles, exits, fire-fighting equipment, lighting panels, or valves. FIRE DOORS AND AISLES MUST REMAIN CLEAR AT ALL TIMES.
- Keep your work area clean and organized.
- Use compressed air only for its intended purpose. Do not use it to clean clothing or misuse it in any way.
- Follow all posted smoking regulations.
- Shut down your machine completely before cleaning, repairing, or stepping away.
- Tow motors and lift trucks are to be operated by authorized personnel only. Walk-type lift trucks must not be ridden, and only the operator may ride tow motors. Always operate at a speed that is safe for current conditions.
- Running and horseplay are strictly prohibited.
- Never block access to fire extinguishers.
- Do not tamper with electrical controls or switches.
- Do not operate any machine or equipment until your supervisor has properly instructed and authorized you to do so.
- Avoid any behavior that goes against basic, reasonable common sense safety practices.
- Report any unsafe condition or act to your supervisor immediately.
- HELP PREVENT ACCIDENTS — it’s everyone’s responsibility.
- Always use designated walkways. Never take unsafe shortcuts.
- Lift the right way — bend your knees, use your legs, not your back. Ask for help with heavier loads.
- Never adjust, clean, or oil machinery while it’s in motion.
- Keep machine guards in their proper position at all times.
- Do not throw objects of any kind.
- Clean up any spilled liquid, oil, or grease right away to prevent slips and falls.
- Wear hard-sole shoes and appropriate work clothing. Shorts and open-toe footwear are not permitted.
- Dispose of trash and paper in the correct containers — not in cigarette butt receptacles.
Safety Checklist
Every employee is responsible for spotting potential hazards. If you notice any of the following — or anything else that seems unsafe — report it to your supervisor immediately:
- Slippery floors or walkways
- Tripping hazards such as hoses, piping, or loose cords
- Missing or non-functioning entrance/exit signs or lighting
- Poorly lit stairways
- Loose handrails or guardrails
- Loose or broken windows
- Dangerously stacked supplies or equipment
- Unlocked doors or gates that should be secured
- Electrical equipment left running unattended
- Open doors on electrical panels
- Leaks of steam, water, oil, or other fluids
- Blocked aisles, fire extinguishers, hose sprinkler heads, or fire doors
- Any equipment showing signs of overheating
- Oily rags left unattended
- Evidence of smoking in non-smoking areas
- Roof leaks
- Missing directional or warning signs
- Safety devices that are not functioning properly
- Machine guards or drive guards that are missing, damaged, loose, or out of position
Safety Equipment
Your supervisor will ensure you receive the proper protective clothing and equipment for your role. Use everything as instructed and take care of it. You will only be held responsible for the cost of lost or damaged equipment if the loss was caused by negligence on your part.
Safety Shoes
GoWork Staffing will designate which job roles and work areas require safety footwear. Under no circumstances will an employee be permitted to work in sandals or open-toe shoes. A trusted safety shoe vendor will visit the company periodically — watch for posted notices ahead of each visit.
Safety Glasses
All shop floor employees are required to wear safety glasses at all times. Consistent adherence to this policy significantly lowers the risk of eye injuries on the job.
Seat Belts
Any employee operating machinery on company business must wear a seat belt and shoulder restraint where available — no exceptions.
Good Housekeeping
A clean workspace is a safe workspace. Keep machines and objects clear of aisle centers, clean up spills and drips immediately, and stock shelves carefully so items don’t fall. Place all trash in the proper receptacles and keep your work area neat and orderly at all times.
